Project statement: It was with a rare combination of sadness and excitement that I was able to acquire the toy cameras of my late friend and colleague Christine Kessler. Of course I was sad for the tragic loss we all suffered as a result of her premature departure, but I was excited in that I would get to use her tools to not only expand my own work but to further promote her name and memory. Among these are the same cameras which she used on the last day we hung out together - our joint photo exploration of downtown Los Angeles armed with Holgas and pinhole cameras. I feel a great responsibility in possessing and using these tools which recorded her unique vision, and I’m anxious to share the results of this somewhat collaborative work.
